The online initial application for admission to the 1st year Bachelor (Honours) class in the 2025-2026 academic year in colleges affiliated to the National University will start from 4 pm on November 23 and will continue till 12 midnight on December 31, 2025. Interested candidates must fill out the application form from the National University admission website and must submit the initial application fee of 1,000/- (one thousand) Taka to the applied college (through mobile banking or directly as determined by the college) by January 4, 2026.

Minimum qualifications for initial application
- Minimum qualifications for applying to the 1st year undergraduate program in the 2025-2026 academic year for students who have passed secondary and higher secondary level in humanities/science/business education from all recognized education boards and open universities in Bangladesh:

Students who have passed at least four subjects including three ‘B’ grades in the 2022/2023 O-Level examination and at least two subjects including one ‘B’ grade in the 2024/2025 A-Level examination, subject to fulfilling other conditions, can apply for this admission process. All these students, instead of applying online, should apply directly/email to the Dean, School of Undergraduate Education, National University within the specified time period (adm.hons@nu.ac.bd) Send the application form.
2. The application form written on white paper should mention the name of the applicant, names of parents, subject of admission, name of the institution and registered personal mobile number. In addition, the applicant’s O-Level and A-Level examination transcript and two copies of passport size attested photographs should be attached with the application form. Subject to fulfilling the admission eligibility conditions, all these applicants should collect the receipt of deposit of 1,000/- (one thousand) Taka as the initial application fee from the Dean, School of Pre-Graduate Education, National University by 31 May 2026 and submit it to the Sonali Bank branch. All these applicants should participate in the admission test and must collect the admission test admit card from the Dean, School of Pre-Graduate Education, National University seven days before the scheduled date of the admission test.
3. In the case of students holding foreign certificates, if their secondary and higher secondary level marks obtained by any education board recognized in Bangladesh are determined to be equivalent, they can also apply for this admission process subject to fulfilling all other conditions. All these students will send their application form directly/e-mail address (adm.hons@nu.ac.bd) to the Dean, School of Undergraduate Education, National University within the stipulated time instead of applying online. The application form written on white paper should mention the name of the applicant, names of parents, subject of admission, name of the institution and registered personal mobile number. In addition, the applicant’s transcript of all examinations, a copy of the equivalence determination by the education board and two copies of attested passport size photographs should be attached to the application form. Subject to fulfilling the admission eligibility conditions, all these applicants should collect the receipt of deposit of 1,000/- (one thousand) Taka as the initial application fee from the Dean, School of Undergraduate Education, National University by 31 May 2026 and submit it to the Sonali Bank branch. All these applicants must participate in the admission test and must collect the admission test admit card from the Dean, School of Undergraduate Education, National University seven days before the scheduled date of the admission test.
4. The applicant must fill the primary application form prescribed for the group/branch from which he/she passed in the Higher Secondary/equivalent examination. Students who have passed the Home Economics group/branch in the Higher Secondary examination must fill the application form for the Humanities group/branch.
5. Eligible subjects for admission to the 1st year Bachelor (Honours) class will be determined from the subjects studied by the applicants in the Higher Secondary and equivalent examinations and they must have a minimum grade point of 2.5 in the subject studied (out of 200 marks).
6. If a student studying in a college affiliated to the National University or any other university in the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 academic years is selected for admission to the 1st year undergraduate program of the National University in the 2025-2026 academic year, the student will have to cancel the previous admission and take admission in the 1st year undergraduate program in the 2025-2026 academic year. If a student is admitted twice in the same academic year or in two different academic years, both his admission and registration will be considered canceled.

Things to do regarding filling the initial application form
1. The applicant should go to the Honours Tab of the National University Admissions website (www.nu.ac.bd/admissions) and click on the Apply Now (NU Undergraduate Program) option and correctly enter the Secondary and Higher Secondary/equivalent examination roll number, registration number, education board, year of passing and a registered mobile number (of the student or his/her guardian) in the information table displayed on the website. It is to be noted that this mobile number will be used by the National University to provide admission-related information to the student in the future.
2. If the applicant’s information table shows Female instead of Male or Male instead of Female, go to the Click to Change option and enter the correct Gender.
3. After providing the initial information, the applicant will be able to see the list of eligible programs/subjects. From this list, the applicant will have to carefully select the preferred program/subject. Later, the applicant will be allotted the program/subject based on the merit according to this preference.
4. Applicants who wish to be admitted under the children of freedom fighters, minority ethnic groups, special needs/differently abled and dependent quotas must select the quota applicable to them in the specified place in the information table. It is to be noted that only children/children of teachers, officers and employees of the National University can apply under the dependent quota. In case of applying under the quota, the original certificate issued by the appropriate authority must be present. It is to be noted that the seats reserved for the quota will be considered in addition to the seats allocated on a subject-wise basis.
5. While filling the form, the applicant should scan and upload a recent passport size color photograph. The size of the photograph should be 120×150 pixels, Image Type: jpg and maximum file size: 50KB. If any photograph other than the applicant’s photograph is uploaded in the initial application form, the admission and registration of that applicant will be considered cancelled.
6. Fill in the form with correct information and picture and click on Submit Application option. At this stage, the applicant’s Application ID and PIN code will be displayed. Later, the applicant will have to download the National University’s online gateway or pay slip from the Download Pay Slip option using the Application ID and PIN code and submit it to any branch of Sonali Bank and collect the receipt.
7. If a candidate wants to cancel his/her initial application form/change the defective photo, he/she has to enter the Application ID and PIN code in the Applicant Login (NU Undergraduate Login) option. At this stage, the applicant has to go to the Form Cancel/Photo Change Option and click on the Click to Generate the OTP option. At this time, the candidate will receive a One Time Password (OTP) through SMS on the personal mobile number provided in his/her application. By entering this OTP, the candidate will be able to cancel his/her application form and fill the application form anew and upload the photo. However, no candidate will be able to cancel the form after submitting the initial application fee through the National University online gateway or by downloading the payslip. The applicant will get this opportunity only once.
8. The National University Authority reserves the right to cancel the admission of the applicant if the applicant’s photograph/any information in the initial application form is found to be incorrect or untrue.

- Â After downloading the payslip or submitting the initial application fee through the National University online gateway, information to download the initial application form will be sent to the mobile number provided by the candidate through SMS. Information and instructions related to admission tests
In the 2025-2026 academic year, a separate 100-mark MCQ admission test will be conducted for students of Science, Humanities and Business Education groups/branches at the Higher Secondary level in the admission process of the 1st year undergraduate program. In the 100-mark MCQ admission test, 100 questions will have to be answered within 01 (one) hour. No marks will be deducted for incorrect answers in the MCQ admission test.

Admission Test Admit Card Download
The applicant students should download and print the admission test admit card from the Applicant Login (NU Undergraduate Login) option of the admission website seven days before the scheduled date of the admission test. It is to be noted that the student’s admit card will mention the roll number of the admission test and the name of the examination center and the student will have to appear at the said center to participate in the admission test. The examinee must appear at the examination center with the admission test admit card and HSC examination registration card. The examinee will not be able to enter the examination center with calculators, mobile phones and any other electronic devices. The examinee must take the seat assigned to the examination center mentioned in the admit card by 10:30 am on the scheduled date of the admission test.
Quota related information and reserved seats
Children of freedom fighters, ethnic minorities, special needs/differently abled and dependents (must be recognized by the Department of Social Services) quota information and reserved seats:

Merit list preparation method and subject distribution
1. The passing score for the admission test in the 100-mark MCQ system for Science, Humanities and Business Education groups/branches will be 35.
2. The merit list will be prepared based on the total 200 (two hundred) marks of the students who pass the admission test and the students will be allotted subjects according to their subject preference and merit list.
3. If two or more applicants have the same merit score, the merit order will be formulated in the following order:
- The score obtained in the admission test will be higher;
- The sum of 40% of the GPA obtained in the S.S.C./equivalent examination (excluding the 4th subject) and 60% of the GPA obtained in the H.S.C./equivalent examination (excluding the 4th subject), whichever is higher;
- The sum of 40% of the marks obtained in the S.S.C./equivalent examination (including the 4th subject) and 60% of the marks obtained in the H.S.C./equivalent examination (including the 4th subject) whichever is higher;
- If two or more applicants still have the same merit list, the merit list will be prepared by giving priority to the one who is younger. 4.This admission process will be completed in phases through merit list and quota merit list.Â
- There will be no opportunity for students who are placed on the merit list in this admission process to change subjects.
