BUET Admission Circular 2025-2026 Academic Year

Applications are being invited in the prescribed form (online) from Bangladeshi citizens seeking admission in the 2025-2026 academic year in various departments of the faculties of Chemical and Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Architecture and Planning of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. All students who have passed the Secondary or its equivalent examination in 2022 or 2023 and the Higher Secondary or its equivalent examination in 2025.

Or passed the Secondary or its equivalent examination in 2022 and the Higher Secondary or its equivalent examination in 2024 but the revised results of the Higher Secondary or its equivalent examination were received from the Education Board after December 14, 2024, or passed the GCE “O” Level examination in November 2021 or later and the GCE “A” Level examination in November 2024 or later, subject to fulfilling other conditions, only those can apply to participate in the admission test. Students who have previously participated in the admission test of this university or have qualified to participate will not be able to participate in this admission test.

Eligibility to participate in the admission test

(a) The candidate must have passed the Secondary School Certificate/Dakhil/equivalent examination in the Science department (including Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry) in the grade system from any Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board/Madrasa Education Board/Technical Education Board in Bangladesh with a minimum GPA of 4.00 on a scale of 5.00 or must have passed the equivalent examination from a foreign education board with at least an equivalent grade.

The candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary/Alim/equivalent examination from any Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board/Madrasa Education Board/Technical Education Board in Bangladesh with a GPA of 5.00 on a scale of 5.00 and a minimum GP of 5.00 in each of Higher Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry subjects or must have passed the Higher Secondary/Alim/equivalent examination from any foreign education board with at least an equivalent grade/number.

Candidates who passed the Secondary or its equivalent examination in 2022 and the Higher Secondary or its equivalent examination in 2024 but received their revised results in the Higher Secondary or its equivalent examination from the Education Board after December 14, 2024, in that case, they will have to pass the Higher Secondary/Alim/equivalent examination from the Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board/Madrasa Education Board/Technical Education Board with a GPA of 5.00 on a scale of 5.00 and a minimum GP of 5.00 in each of Higher Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or pass the Higher Secondary/Alim/equivalent examination with at least an equivalent grade/number from the equivalent examination from a foreign education board.

From among all the correct applicants, all the applicants from 1st to 10,000th will be allowed to participate in the admission test. For this selection, the total marks obtained in the three subjects of Higher Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in the Higher Secondary/equivalent examination and the marks obtained in Higher Mathematics and Physics in the Higher Secondary/equivalent examination will be considered as the order of priority. However, in the case of the 10,000th applicant, if the total marks obtained in the three subjects of Higher Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in the Higher Secondary/equivalent examination are the same, all those who have obtained the said marks will be considered as the 10,000th applicant and given the opportunity to participate in the examination. GCE “O” Level Examination

Candidates who have passed GCE “O” Level and GCE “A” Level must pass the GCE “O” Level examination with a minimum grade of B in each of at least five subjects (including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English) and must pass the GCE “A” Level examination with a minimum grade of A in any two of the three subjects of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and a minimum grade of B in one of them.

Subject to meeting the minimum qualifications, all the correct applicants who have obtained the results of the GCE “O” Level and GCE “A” Level examinations will be selected on the basis of the grades specified above and all the applicants from 1st to 300th will be allowed to participate in the admission test. For this selection, the grades obtained in Mathematics and Physics subjects in the GCE “A” Level examinations of the applicant respectively will be considered as the order of priority.

All eligible applicants from ethnic minorities will be given the opportunity to participate in the admission test, subject to meeting the minimum qualifications. The list of applicants deemed eligible to participate in the admission test will be published on the university website (www.buet.ac.bd).

Number of seats

The total number of seats is 1,309, including 3 reserved seats for candidates belonging to ethnic minorities in the Chittagong Hill Tracts and other areas in the Engineering Department and the Urban and Regional Planning Department, and 1 reserved seat in the Architecture Department.

Application rules

Application Rules: Guidelines for Admission to Undergraduate Program are available on the university website (www.buet.ac.bd). The application form should be duly filled and submitted online as per the instructions given on the website. After submission, an Application Serial No. will be provided. Later, the application fee should be submitted against this number as per the procedure mentioned on the BUET website and the application form should be finally submitted. Special Note:

  • The office will be closed on Fridays and other public holidays.
  • Online application submission will not be possible after 3:00 PM on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, and the online application server will be closed at 5:30 PM on the same day; no further applications can be submitted online after that.
  • After providing the departmental options, the admission test admit card must be downloaded.
  • All questions and evaluations for each subject of Module A and Module B in the admission test will be conducted in the conventional manner.
  • Mobile phones, smart devices or telecommunication devices, geometry boxes, pencil boxes, scales, set squares, compasses, and any type of bags cannot be brought into the examination room.
